Choosing handmade is choosing a slower way of life, one rooted in tradition and creative expression.

I am a city girl who loves living near the mountains and the sea. The greatest inspiration for my art is the beautiful scenery that surrounds me. As a native to Portland, Oregon, the majestic mountains and the vast ocean are a constant in my life. I have fond memories as a child hiking through the woods and playing by the sea.  These are still some of my favorite activities today.

I've been working full-time on my art since 2009.  Prior to this, I taught high school art for ten years in the public school system, and I started and co-operated an arts-focused shop in SE Portland.  We represented over 120 socially responsible designers, many of them local. And our mission: to connect consumers to the stories of makers.

My art is a manifestation of my spiritual connection to nature and its Creator. Whether it's sketching in the wildnerness, hand spinning with natural fibers, painting a mountain, or dyeing fabric in my indigo fermentation vat, my creative process draws me closer to Him and the natural world.  As a maker, I am intentional in using materials that are easy on the environment.  My art prints are custom printed in my home studio using bamboo paper, and I weave on vintage looms using reclaimed and handspun yarn.

I enjoy working in multiple art disciplines, particularly drawing, painting, photography, and weaving. I studied art at Willamette University with an emphasis on printmaking, and I also have a master's degree in arts education. Although I spend most of my days working on my own art,  I teach art classes and workshops from time to time.

My work has been part of art exhibitions in the United States, Australia, United Kingdom, and Austria. My collaborations include Urban Outfitters, One Kings Lane, Kashi Foods, Atomic Skis, and prAna.
